My Father My Lord

A FILM BY David Volach

... combines great emotional accessibility with the sheer exoticism of a totally alien culture, making it an arthouse dream.

Synopsis

This modern interpretation of the story of Abraham and Isaac traces the struggles of one Israeli family. With a rigid adherence to religious tenants, a rabbi, his wife and young son lead a life completely devoted to God. As they embark upon their journey to the Dead Sea, a sudden tragedy forces the rabbi to re-evaluate his strict religious beliefs against the wellbeing of his family. My Father, My Lord is a powerful film that artfully explores an extremist worldview put to the ultimate test.
