Little Cheung


synopsis

Meet little Cheung - a rambunctious, charming nine-year-old who delivers take-out orders for his father's restaurant. From brothels to barber shops Little Cheung becomes familiar with his wild Hong Kong neighbourhood and earns big tips at the same time. One day, Little Cheung befriends Fan, a mainland girl living illegally in the city. They spend all of their time together, enjoying one another's company until they fall into the midst of a gangland fight. Miraculously saved by a stranger, Cheung makes it home only to be brutally punished by his father. Little Cheung runs away from home just when Fan is about to be deported. Fruit Chan was born in Canton, China in 1959. A graduate of the Hong Kong Film Centre, Fruit Chan's filmography includes: Finale in Blood (1991), Made in Hong Kong (1996), The Longest Summer (1998), Little Cheung (1999) and Durian Durian (2000).
